Air China will start a direct Shenzhen-Los Angeles services as of December 7 that will replace the current Shenzhen-Beijing-Los Angeles route that operates since February 1. The new flight comes in response to the increase in Chinese outbound traffic.

For the 10 year period between 2005-2015 the number of passengers travelling on round trips between China and the USA exceeded 30 million and for 2016 it was more than 5 million, a 5.3% growth over 2015.

The new direct service between Shenzen and Los Angeles will be three times weekly and will be performed by the carrier’s Boeing 787-9 aircraft. It is part of the carrier’s effort to open new intercontinental routes in recent years, one of which was a service to Frankfurt that started in May 2016. Due to the favorable polices and government subsidies Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport has strengthened its position and is able to compete with the other leading international airports such as Guangzhou Baiyun and Hong Kong.
