Air France will soon place a major order with Airbus for narrow-body aircraft. The deal will be discussed at a meeting of the Air France–KLM Group board later in July. The French flag carrier may purchase as many as 70 A220 aircraft plus a large number of A320neo aircraft.
At the Paris Air Show in June, KLM, Air France’s sister carrier, selected Embraer’s competing offering to the A220 in support of its own short-haul fleet expansion efforts. The Dutch carrier signed a letter of intent for up to 35 Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, including twenty options.
