AirAsia announced at the Paris Air Show that it will convert 253 existing orders for the Airbus A320neo aircraft to the airframer’s larger A321neo model. In total, the company’s orderbook includes 592 A320 family aircraft. In doing so, it becomes Airbus’ largest A321neo customer.
The airline group is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and includes Indian, Indonesian, Japanese, Filipino, and Thai subsidiaries. It operates short- and long-haul flights under a low-cost model. It has recently experienced financial difficulties.
