AirAsia Group took delivery of its first Airbus A330-900 aircraft. The Malaysian airline consortium includes Indian, Indonesian, Japanese, Filipino, and Thai subsidiaries. The group’s AirAsia X Thailand division will operate the new plane from its base at Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport. The plane is leased from Avolon, an Irish lessor.
The airline outfitted the aircraft with twelve business class and 365 economy class seats. The plane’s highly-efficient Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines offer 25% better fuel burn on a per-seat basis compared to A330ceo airplanes.
