AirBaltic, the state-owned Latvian low-cost carrier, published 2018’s first quarter results.
The carrier has significantly increased the number of transported passengers for the period, showing a 24 percent rise from 2017’s first quarter, reaching 729,897 travelers. In the third month of the year alone, airBaltic transported 280,724 people, indicating a 25 percent rise from March 2017.
The Chief Executive Officer of airBaltic Martin Gauss commented on the success of the airline’s first quarter. He shared that the numbers achieved in 2017 were the airline’s top record, and the performance from the beginning of 2018 has surpassed this record. The carrier entered the summer season at the end of the third month and launched new destinations, providing customers with a wider range of flying alternatives.
Overall, March ended with 4,216 completed flights, an increase by 15 percent from the same period in 2017. For the entire first quarter, airBaltic carried out 11,591 flights. Load factor level was 72 percent in March, while the entire quarter’s load factor was 67 percent.
Improved flight punctuality won the reliance and trust of passengers and partners. Future improvements have been taken into consideration to even further grow and stabilize the airline.
