The new A330neo will perform its maiden flight this week on October 19. The date falls in the interval that was previously indicated by Airbus as a possible period for the first flight of the aircraft.

The first jetliner to take off from Toulouse-Blagnac Airport in southwestern France is an A330-900 variant. Two more planes of the same family – another A330-900 and an A330-800 version are set to perform their maiden flights by the end of the year.

The new generation of the A330 family promises better operating efficiency due to the new engines, wings and systems and enhanced passenger experience due to its cabin functionality. Its environmental impact is considered to be impeccable.

The A330-900 is planned to receive type certification by the middle of 2018. TAP Portugal is set to be the first airline to receive the new aircraft shortly afterwards.
