Alitalia, the Italian flag carrier, released a report concerning its operations in August 2019. The airline carried more than two million passengers, up 0.4% from the same month of 2018. Its cumulative year-to-date passenger revenues rose 2%.
The company attributed this growth to its long-haul sector, which carried about 289,000 fliers last month. This amounts to a 5.4% year-on-year passenger increase.
In recent years, the airline has experienced severe financial difficulties. Delta Air Lines and Ferrovie dello Stato, two companies contemplating making investments in the floundering carrier, requested last week that government-appointed administrators extend the deadline for submitting their takeover management plans.
