China Southern Airlines has placed an order with Boeing for 38 aircraft that include 8 Boeing 777-300ERs and 30 Boeing 737 Max 8s. 

The airline has disclosed in a Hong Kong Stock Exchange filing that it has entered into a provisional aircraft purchase agreement with Boeing. The contract is pending approval from the Chinese government and the airline shareholders. 

China Southern Airlines planes to finance the purchase of the jets via financial leases. The carrier expects delivery of five 777-300ERs and twelve 737 Max 8 aircraft in 2019, while the remaining three widebodies and 18 narrowbodies shall arrive by the end of 2020. All the 777-300ERs will be fitted with General Electric GE90 engines while the 737 Max will be powered by the CFM International Leap-1B.
