Chengdu Airlines were honored to receive the first China-made jetliner ARJ21-700, produced by the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC). The delivery was made last Thursday and is interpreted as a sign that the jetliner manufacturing industry in China is moving towards the mass production stage.
The first Chinese jet has between 78 and 90 seats and a flight range of 2,225 to 3,700 kilometers. Its mass production was certified in July 2017. The aircraft is expected to serve China’s central and western cities.
The ARJ21-700 was delivered to Chengdu Airlines by China Aerospace Leasing Co through a lease-back arrangement.
So far, COMAC has received 433 orders for the ARJ21-700 from 20 clients and plans to deliver 5 aircraft by the end of the year. When the new jet enters the market. it is expected to enable rural citizens to travel more often, quicker and at cheaper price.
The delivery of the first ARJ21-700 comes just a day after Qinghai Airport Co Ltd announced that the ARJ21-700 has successfully completed its trial flight on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in the course of five days.
