EgyptAir signed two separate leasing agreements with AerCap for Boeing and Airbus Aircraft at the Dubai Airshow.

One of the contracts is for 15 Airbus A320neo aircraft, which are expected to deliver in 2020. The jets will be equipped with CFM International Leap-1A engines and are part of the lessor’s existing order book.

The other leasing agreement concluded between Egypt Air and AerCap is for six Boeing 787-9s. Thus, the airline becomes the latest operator to commit to this type of aircraft. It is known that the 787-9s will come from AerCap’s existing backlog of 787 orders but there is no information as to when the planes will be delivered.

EgyptAir Holding Company chairman and chief executive Safwat Musallam confirmed that they are excited to add the Dreamliners to their existing fleet of 54 aircraft. The carrier currently operates a mixture of Airbus A320 family jets, A330s, 737-800s and 777s.
