Flydubai announced that it launches new daily flights to Sheremetyevo International Airport (SVO) from 29 November. Thus, the carrier will offer two daily services to the Russian capital, the other one being to Vnukovo International Airport (VKO).
The Dubai-based airline started its operations in Moscow in 2014 and since then it flies passengers to 11 points in the country with 47 weekly flights, which are to become 52 as of mid-December. The latest destinations added in October 2017 were Makhachkala, Ufa and Voronezh. The other direct flights operated by flydubai to Russia are to the cities of Kazan, Krasnodar, Mineralnye Vody, Moscow (VKO), Rostov-on-Don, Samara and Yekaterinburg.
The airline is the first carrier that offers direct flights to Sheremetyevo International Airport from the UAE. Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer of flydubai, commented that the new service is in a response to the growing passenger demand for more affordable and reliable direct links to the UAE. The carrier has also recorded a 45% growth in passenger numbers to Russia in the first half of 2017 compared to the same period in 2016.
