Hawaiian Airlines took delivery of its first A321neo on October 27 in Hamburg. Both Airbus and the Honolulu-based carrier announced the handoff by tweeting pictures of the plane.
Hawaiian greeted the new aircraft with, “We’re so excited to welcome our first @Airbus A321neo to our ‘ohana’.” and Airbus posted a picture of the plane with its registration number N202HA.
The airline was expecting the new addition a few months earlier but the delivery was delayed due to the modifications needed for the Pratt & Whitney PW1100G geared turbofans. The carrier has orders for another 17 A321neos.
The first flight of the new aircraft is scheduled for January 8 between Maui and Oakland. The other A321neo services will be between Maui and Portland starting 18 January, between Oakland and Lihue on 11 April, and between Los Angeles and Kona in summer 2018.
