KLM Royal Dutch Airlines signed an agreement with Embraer to acquire modern E195-E2 regional aircraft. The Dutch flag carrier confirmed a prior agreement for 21 aircraft of that model, with options for 14 more. Its subsidiary, KLM Cityhopper, will receive these aircraft between 2021 and 2024.
Today’s announcement formalizes two past iterations of the carrier’s fleet development effort. First, during the Paris Air Show last June, the operator signed a Letter of Intent for fifteen E195-E2 aircraft plus options for another 20. Then, earlier this month, it closed agreements with Embraer and two leasing companies to add up to 35 regional aircraft.
