Last year has been good for the Latvian flag carrier airBaltic. In a press release, they announced a 22% increase in the number of passengers or a total of 3,523,300 PAX carried during the year. This is the highest number of passengers transported in the airline’s history. They manged to operate more than 99 of every 100 scheduled flights, and the load factor reached 76%.
Martin Gauss, Chief Executive Officer of airBaltic, said:
“2017 was an outstanding year for airBaltic. We launched 13 new destinations, introduced seven brand-new Bombardier CS300 aircraft and became the most punctual airline globally. During the second half of the year we beat our passenger records each month. Our team has done a fantastic job in making sure everything runs smoothly.”
He also revealed that their business plan Horizon 2021 foresees a continuous growth in the next few years. In 2018, airBaltic is expected to open routes to at least 8 new destinations.
The low-cost airline was ranked number 1 in punctuality by the OAG Punctuality Report 2017 with a rating of 90.01%.
