Italy’s flag carrier Alitalia and the Turkish low-cost carrier Pegasus Airlines have signed a codeshare agreement, forming a new partnership.
As part of the new agreement, Alitalia will be able to improve and expand its presence in the Turkish aviation market. A wider range of traveling alternatives will be present for Alitalia’s passengers wishing to travel to Istanbul and other major travel destinations in the region.
Pegasus, on the other hand, will have the opportunity to tap into Alitalia’s existing international and national networks.
As part of negotiations, the Italian carrier will place its “AZ” code on services to and from Rome, Bologna, Bergamo, Istanbul, Ankara, Antalya, Bodrum, Adana, and Izmir. On the other side of the partnership, Pegasus Airlines will place its “PC” code on services from Rome to Bari, Catania, Genoa, Naples, Venice, and Turin.
There are more destinations to be exchanged but are awaiting regulatory authorization.
