On November 5 Southwest Airlines launched three new nonstop international services from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport as part of its program for more diverse services.

One of the routes is to Turks and Caicos Islands’ Providenciales International Airport (PLS). The daily flight offered to the territory is the first to this destination serviced by the Dallas-based carrier.

The other two routes launched on the same day by Southwest Airlines connect FLL with the airports in San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO) and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (PUJ).

Southwest SVP-operations and hospitality Steve Goldberg commented that this is part of the company efforts to reinstate Carribean and Central America as attractive destinations for leisure, tourism and business.

Currently three out of the five gates in the newly renovated Terminal 1 of FLL are for Southwest flights.
