TAP Air Portugal flew 100,000 more passengers in the first five months of 2019 than in the same period of the prior year, according to a press release from the airline.
The Portuguese flag carrier transported about 4.9 million passengers between January and May. The timing of Easter pushed substantial holiday-related traffic from March to April, driving this trend.
Rising passenger numbers parallel the Lisbon-based operator’s network expansion activities; this year it will launch new routes to Dublin, Tel Aviv, Basel, Chicago, San Francisco, Washington, Naples, and Tenerife.
