According to data published today by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics, American operators carried about 78.2 million scheduled passengers in August 2019. This trumped passenger traffic in August 2018 by 4.7%. Last month’s traffic was split 87.5% to 12.5% between domestic and international traffic.
On a year-to-date basis, 623.4 million passengers flew with U.S. airlines, setting a new record. This constitutes a 4% increase compared to the same eight months of the prior year.
